You know what’s a slippery slope in real estate? Relying too much on social media without actually making it work for your business. I almost want to name it one of my Real Estate Traps, really. Just posting listings and cute pics won’t get you far, trust me.
There’s this thing called The Mere Exposure Effect. Basically, if people see your face a lot, they’ll feel like they know you, which can build trust (unless you goof up online). But to really crush it on social media, you’ve gotta be consistent and know your audience.
Start by figuring out your ideal client (that’s your “client avatar”) and nail down your brand’s vibe (your “archetype”). Without this, you’re just leaving things to chance. And seriously, if you’re not into doing videos, you might want to think twice about focusing on social media in today’s world.
Now, I’m not trying to scare you away from using social media, but it’s essential to know what you’re getting into. Sometimes we feel like we’re doing great when we’re actually not making any progress.
To make social media work, you’ve got to include calls to action in your content and bring those online conversations into the real world. Don’t be one of those agents who only posts and hopes for the best.
Sure, there are exceptions to every rule, but be honest with yourself when deciding to dive into social media. Are you going to be consistent? Will you be generating actual business opportunities?
And while we’re at it, let’s talk about some ways to make social media really work for you. For starters, create engaging content that speaks to your target audience – think blog posts, live videos, and helpful tips. Show your expertise and be genuine in your interactions.
Build relationships with influencers and other professionals in your industry. Collaborate on content, share each other’s posts, and engage in conversations. This will expand your reach and bring more potential clients your way.
Don’t forget to track your results. Keep an eye on your analytics and adjust your strategy based on the numbers. Find out what works, what doesn’t, and make improvements along the way.
Lastly, always be learning. Social media is constantly changing, so stay up to date with the latest trends and best practices. Attend workshops, webinars, and network with other real estate pros who are rocking it on social media.
Remember, social media can be a powerful tool for your real estate business, but only if you commit to doing it right. Be consistent, know your audience, and always look for ways to improve.
Things to consider if you are going to choose this path:
- You will need to make so many more posts that you think you will
- Documentation is easier than content creation. This is where you document your day showing what you do which will give you authority
- You need to figure out your archetype and the client avatar to help you figure out the content you share
- You will need to stay up to date on the many changes that happen in the algorithms
- You need to be engaging with others on the platform and not just posting
